Mecartex SA is a Swiss limited company specialized in designing and manufacturing systems for high precision applications based on flexures which range in millimeters and require an accuracy of nanometers.

The success of the company is based on an excellent mix of theoretical know-how on micro mechanics and flexures acquired at EPF of Lausanne in the late 90’s, where the two of the three co-founders, Stefano Bottinelli and Yann Mabillard, were working. This knowledge, followed by several

years of practical experience designing flexure-based motion systems, and the capacity to manufacture and assemble all components necessary to build the final solution, has led to a winning combination. The core know-how of the company is based on the

capability of mastering two technologies: the design of high precision products based on flexures, and the manufacturing of high precision mechanical elements with EDM. The founders of Mecartex are proud of such a fine example of high precision solutions –made 100% in Switzerland.


CO-founder, CEO and Chairman of the board
After graduating from Yverdon in 1992 as an ETS Microtechnical Engineer, he worked for two years as planning and production manager for a watch company before moving to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) as a researcher. He has more than six years of solid experience in the field of high precision robotics and EDM processes. In 2000 he started his own company, today known as Mecartex SA.
CO-founder and Head of Manufacturing
After completing his studies he began working as an Engineer Surveyor. He has a track record in manufacturing for the tooling industry, and benefits from six years of experiences as Technical Manager of a team of 120 employees in the field of watch manufacturing. He has been Head of Production for Mecartex since its foundation.
CO-founder and Head of R&D
After graduating as a Mechanical Engineer from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL) he was involved in various research projects in the field of high precision robotics. He has been Head of R&D since he co-founded the company.


Flexures are the best technology to fulfil future requirements of high precision industry and Mecartex’s objective is to maintain a leadership position as the best product and solution provider for high precision measuring and positioning systems.


Mecartex is focused on a providing specialized engineering services: the development of high precision systems for measuring and positioning devices. Mecartex leverages the strong know-how in flexures to build high precision mechanical systems that have characteristics not yet attained by competitors using more conventional technologies.

    Mecartex develops and manufactures high precision products, combining conventional and the flexures technology, such as the 3D Nanotouch Probe, Micro Positioning stages or very precise aligner and force sensors used in industrial applications like the assembly process of chips or the micro manufacturing in the Automotive industry.

    Precision manufacturing

    Core activities, two main areas:

    Mecartex manufactures complex, high precision mechanical parts using the Milling and Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) process. The Mecartex specific technical experience and rare know-how is essential to manufacturing complex mechanical parts. This knowledge is also a fundamental advantage in defining a “design for manufacturing” for complex products, in particular for flexure based products.
